Finca Emilia is wine produced in Ribera del Duero, a Spanish Denominación de Origenes (DO) located in the north of the country, and is one of 11 wine regions in Castilla y León. Ribera del Duero is also one of several recognized wine-producing regions found along the Duero River.
The region is characterized by a largely flat and rocky terrain, and has the city of Aranda de Duero at its center.
Ribera del Duero was named "Wine Region of the Year 2012" by the prestigious Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Wine produced in Ribera del Duero is almost exclusively from red grapes. The Albillo grape is the only white variety growing in the region. White wine produced in Ribera del Duero is mostly consumed locally. The vast majority of production is dedicated to Tempranillo, the dominant red variety in the northern half of the Spanish Peninsula. Tempranillo is often, but not always, supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot. However, Finca Emilia is one of the wines from Ribera del Duero, which is 100% based on the Tempranillo grape.
